THE SUNDAY STORY 03 / 03

A few more
Copenhagen moments.

From the streets around Kongens Nytorv to lunch and reflections at Nyhavn, these photographs follow the afternoon through the city, ending with a seat indoors.

01 / CITY DETAILS13:32 — 13:38

A closer look
at the city.

The afternoon begins beside Brønnum, with pale stone façades and balconies catching the light. A few minutes later, I photographed the ornate gateway in the passage at Fyrtøjet (The Tinder Box), Nyhavn 11, with its hanging lanterns and cobbled floor.

02 / LUNCH13:59

Lunch at
McJoy’s Choice.

I stopped for lunch at McJoy’s Choice, at Nyhavn 47, for a board of Danish open sandwiches: salmon, prawns with egg, and a breaded fillet, with greens and a wedge of lemon. Afterwards, there was time for another look along the water.

03 / BY THE WATER14:20

One more
harbour view.

Rigging crosses the view over Nyhavn, framing the brick buildings and their reflections. A final canal photograph in this afternoon’s collection.

04 / AFTERNOON PAUSE16:31

A moment
to sit down.

By 16:31, I was back at the hotel getting packed and ready to leave but not before having a final drink in the restaurant.
